STEWART AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, NEWBURGH, NY (11/13/2013)(readMedia)-- The New York Air National Guard's 105th Airlift Wing will officially open its new C-17 Simulator Training Facility on Thursday morning.

WHO: Col. Timothy LaBarge, the commander of the 105th Airlift Wing; and officials from L-3 Link Simulation & Training- Lenny Genna, company president and Tracey Mead, C-17 aircrew system program manager.

WHAT: Official opening and ribbon cutting of the C-17 simulator training facility. The system will provide cost effective training for C-17 aircrew assigned to the 105th Airlift Wing.

BACKGROUND

The C-17 Training Simulator Training Facility the wing is unveiling is a state-of-the –art simulator that that creates a realistic environment that immerses pilots in dynamic, high-definition training scenarios. The company also provides training courses as well. Each year the C-17 facility at Stewart ANGB will support over 360 courses and 550 simulator training missions. The C-17 installation at Stewart ANGB provides refresher, upgrade and currency training to 105th Airlift Wing aircrews using classroom instruction, the C-17 Weapon Systems Trainer and the C-17 Loadmaster Station Trainer.
