SCOTIA , NY (07/25/2014)(readMedia)-- The New York Air National Guard's 109th Airlift Wing will host graduation ceremonies Saturday morning for more than 200 young men and women from across New York who have been attending the weeklong Civil Air Patrol Leadership Encampment at Stratton Air National Guard this past week. More than 300 parents and guests are expected to attend the event.

The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary organization of the U.S. Air Force.

WHO: Two hundred youth cadets, ages 12 to 18, of the Civil Air Patrol. Cadets live throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. Keynote speaker for the graduation ceremony is Col. Vance Bateman, Air National Guard Advisor to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Plans and Requirements in Washington, D.C.

WHAT: A graduation ceremony that culminates a week of training at Stratton Air National Guard Base. The cadets have learned about leadership, aerospace, physical fitness, the air Force and other topics. The cadets began the encampment, which is run by cadets with senior member mentorship on Saturday, July 26.
