174th Atack Wing Statement on Anticipated Demonstration outside Hancock Field Air National Guard Base Sunday

HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, NY (10/03/2014)(readMedia)-- A permit has been issued by the Town of Dewitt, approving a demonstration to take place near the main entrance of Hancock Field Air National Guard Base on Sunday, October 5th, 2014.

The 174th Attack Wing respects the Constitutional rights of all citizens of the United States, and is committed to ensuring the safety of our community, the general public, and unit members.

At the request of local law enforcement agencies, the 174th Attack Wing will designate a portion of the base's federal property to be used for the limited purpose of a peaceful assembly in accordance with the issued permit. While outside of the base's perimeter fence-line, the designated assembly area still remains on HFANGB-owned property as defined by the 1942 deed filed at the Onondaga County Clerk's office, and will only be made available on October 5th, 2014 during the times indicated on the approved permit.

The assembly area will be clearly identified by physical markers and a boundary map has been provided to the Town of Dewitt and demonstration organizers. The goal of this designated assembly area, voluntarily provided by the 174th Attack Wing, is to increase the safety and security of those in attendance, while also allowing for the safe flow of traffic on Molloy Road and continued access to Hancock Field Air National Guard Base.

The 174th Attack Wing must ensure access to Hancock Field in order to continue our vital 24/7/365 mission of protecting our nation's Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines in harm's way.
