174th Attack Wing hosts an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Boss Day on June 14

HANCOCK FIELD AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, SYRACUSE, NEW YORK (06/12/2023) (readMedia)-- The New York AIR National Guard's 174th Attack Wing, headquartered at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base in Syracuse, will host an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve Boss Day for local employers and community leaders on Wednesday, June 14.

WHO: Col. John O'Connor, the Commander of the 174th Attack Wing; Emil Baker, New York State ESGR Employer Outreach Director; CNY Committee of ESGR; employers and influencers from around the Syracuse community.
WHAT: The Boss Day event recognizes employers for their dedication and support to military members by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve organization, known as ESGR for short. ESGR works to help employers understand the importance of part-time military service and resolve problems between employers and their employees who are Citizen Soldiers and Airmen.
The employers taking part in the base tour will get a chance to see an MQ-9 Reaper and related equipment and speak to the Airmen who repair and fly these remotely piloted aircraft.
Some attendees will receive awards presented by ESGR for their work. Onondaga County Executive J. Ryan McMahon will be included among the award recipients.
The event will begin with a welcome from the new 174th Attack Wing Commander, Col John O'Connor, and an introduction to ESGR followed by a unique tour of the base and a complementary luncheon. The awards will be presented during the luncheon.
