$3,000,000 Scratch-off Winner is the First Warren County Lottery Millionaire of 2012

SCHENECTADY, NY (11/09/2012)(readMedia)-- Jason Lamb, of Bolton Landing, was presented with a $3,000,000 ceremonial prize check today at the New York Lottery's Customer Service Center in Schenectady. Lamb won the top prize on the New York Lottery's $100,000,000 Spectacular scratch-off game.

Lamb, a self-employed contractor, routinely buys a scratch-off ticket and a coffee at the Stewart's on Lake Shore Drive in Bolton Landing on the way to work. The morning of October 18 was no different, except for one thing.

His friend Sean, who was with Lamb when he purchased the ticket, explained that Lamb always says, "If we win a million dollars, we aren't working today," while scratching his tickets. Sean went on to say that Lamb had forgotten to make that statement on the morning of October 18 before he scratched his way to a $3,000,000 prize.

The pair did not go to work that day, opting instead to pick up Lamb's younger brother and drive straight to the Lottery's Customer Service Center in Schenectady to claim the $3,000,000 prize.

The top prize on the $100,000,000 Spectacular game is paid in 20 annual payments of $150,000. Lamb will receive a net check totaling $99,270 each year through 2031. Lamb said he plans to use his winnings to "take care of mom" and possibly go to Hawaii to visit his brother who is in the military and stationed there.

Lamb is the eighth New York Lottery millionaire to purchase a winning ticket at a Stewart's location in 2012 so far. Last month, the Lottery awarded $1,000,000 prize checks to Douglas Adams of Monroe, Westchester County, who won a $1,000,000 Powerball second prize on a ticket purchased at a Stewart's in Cobleskill; Diane Staples, of Mechanicville, who won a $1,000,000 Powerball second prize on a ticket purchased at a Stewart's in Saratoga Springs; and Ansel Lyman, of Galway, who won a $1,000,000 top prize on a 20x the Bucks scratch-off ticket purchased at a Stewart's in Amsterdam.

The New York Lottery contributed $8,693,217.89 in Lottery Aid To Education to school districts throughout Warren County during fiscal year 2011-2012.
