3rd UPDATE: Thruway Authority Announces All Lanes Open Between Interchanges 20 & 21
Northbound/Southbound Reopened After Early-Morning Accident
ALBANY, NY (01/11/2010)(readMedia)-- The New York State Thruway Authority has announced all lanes, northbound and southbound, between Interchanges 20 (Saugerties) and 21 (Catskill, Cairo) have been reopened. The lanes had been closed due to an early-morning southbound tractor trailer accident at milepost 108.8.
Around 4 a.m., a tractor trailer accident at milepost 108.8 southbound - along I-87 approximately 5 miles south of Interchange 21) - closed all lanes along I-87. Around 7:30 this morning, all northbound lanes were reopened. Around 11:30 this morning, the left lane southbound was reopened. At 4 p.m., the right lane southbound was reopened. All lanes are now open to traffic.
Interchange 21 is located at milepost 113.89; Interchange 20 is located at milepost 101.25.
During the closure, the Authority activated Highway Advisory Radio and Dynamic Message Signs and sent TRANSalerts to subscribers to notify them of the closure and offer periodic updates.
The Authority appreciates motorists' patience during this unscheduled closure.
