95.5 KLOS Aims High For 27th Annual Blood Drive
One of the Nation’s largest Media blood donation events is going for a total of over 100,000 units
In partnership with the American Red Cross and the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, 95.5 KLOS is gearing up for its 27th Annual KLOS Blood Drive and expects to bring in over 5,000 units of blood and blood products over a four-day period. The blood drive kicks off on Wednesday, July 30 and ends on Saturday, August 2.
"We celebrate an amazing twenty-seven year partnership with KLOS," said Clifford Numark, director of donor recruitment for the American Red Cross Blood Services, Southern California Region. "Through the years, this phenomenal blood drive has provided life-saving blood for up to 291,000 patients in our communities who needed blood and blood products to survive accidents, heart transplants, premature births, and other ailments."
Since its inception, the KLOS blood drive has collected over 97,000 units of blood. This year's blood drive will take place at 30 locations throughout Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and Ventura counties (see attached) and is expected to collect more than 5,000 units, pushing the total number of units collected from KLOS blood donors to well over 100,000.
Participants in this year's KLOS Blood Drive will receive a commemorative 27th Annual KLOS Blood Drive T-shirt. All blood and platelet donors with pre-scheduled appointments will receive a voucher on a first come first served basis while supplies last for one general admission ticket to see their choice of Crue Fest a the Glen Helen Pavilion on Saturday, August 2, 2008; ZZ Top with Brooks & Dunn at Glen Helen Pavilion on Sunday, August 3, 2008; or Metal Masters featuring Judas Priest and Heaven and Hell at the Glen Helen Pavilion on Saturday, August 30, 2008; tickets courtesy of LIVENATION. Ticket choices are extremely limited and not guaranteed. In addition, participants who present to donate at one of the Red Cross KLOS blood drives in Los Angeles, Orange or Ventura counties or at the Blood Bank of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties KLOS blood drive in San Bernardino or Riverside counties will be invited to enter their name in a drawing for $500 gas gift card. Two $500 gas cards will be awarded. All prizes are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash.

KLOS has been recognized with many prestigious awards for its dedication to the community and will be presented with the American Association of Blood Bank's (AABB) prestigious Award of Merit for the Radio category in Montreal this coming October. KLOS was also named one of five finalists nationwide to receive the National Association of Broadcasting's Legendary Station Award at the Marconi Awards in September 2006. In 2005, the station received both the Service to America Radio Partnership Award and the Crystal Radio Award, marking the first time that one radio station has been honored with both awards in the same year.
