A Golden Toilet Seat is the Prize Possession for the Outhouse Races at the Iowa State Fair

DES MOINES, IA (08/15/2017) (readMedia)-- Rasmussen Group won the 14th annual Outhouse Races Tuesday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair. Team members Karl Rasmussen, Sam Rasmussen, Olivia Rasmussen and Steve Snell were awarded $300 in cash and a golden toilet seat for besting their competition in speed.

The Real Deal Outhouse Family team members Abbi Outhouse, Jenna Muhlbauer, Tyler Lohrmann and Korey Vogel took second place with a $200 cash prize and a silver plunger.

Third place, $100 in cash and a bronze plunger went to Odland Outhouse Racing team, members included: Brent Odland, Kyle Wenck, Paige Myer and Alex Myer. The Odland Outhouse Racing of Webster City also took home the Best Costume award.

The Best House award went to the Iowa Digestive Disease Center's Unicorn Poop Brigade of Clive, Iowa, members included: Nagi Myneni, Derek Myers, Meredith Westbrook and Ashley Lussman.

Teams, composed of three pushers and one driver, construct their own outhouses. During the race, teams push the outhouses to a toilet where the drivers must clean off the toilet seat without using their hands. Then the drivers search for a corn cob buried in a cattle trough, change a roll of toilet paper and return to the outhouses where the teams push them back to the starting point.
