SCRANTON, PA (07/20/2012)(readMedia)-- Abbe R. Clark of Southold, N.Y., was among just 25 members of The University of Scranton's Class of 2012 to graduate from the Jesuit university's Honors Program. She earned a bachelor of science, summa cum laude, in biochemistry, cell and molecular biology and is the recipient of the Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship, which is one of the nation's most coveted honors in science, mathematics and engineering. She was mentored by Timothy Foley, Ph.D., associate professor of chemistry, and her thesis was "Further Characterization of Disulfide-Bond Formation in Triose Phosphate Isomerase: Interaction with Glutathione." She plans to pursue a Ph.D. at Harvard University, Boston, Mass., in biomedical and biological sciences.
