ANNVILLE, PA (10/18/2017) The Suzanne H. Arnold Art Gallery at Lebanon Valley College proudly presents Academy of Dreams: Isaac Pelepko. The exhibition, running from Nov. 2-Dec. 17, 2017, features the work of Lebanon contemporary artist Isaac Pelepko. His approach to the depiction of the contemporary body is informed largely by the methods developed by European Academies of Art during the 18th century. Pelepko's unique type of academicism fuses the highly technical with the swirling visions of desire, drama, and death that constantly circulate within the artist's subconscious and society at large.

Pelepko is an American painter and draughtsman whose work is primarily focused on the figure. He received his B.F.A. from the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design where he was awarded most outstanding student fine art his senior year and his M.F.A. from the New York Academy of Art where he received a merit scholarship award. He also studied at Grand Central Academy and the Art Students League of New York, where he was awarded the Phyllis and Frank Mason grant for painting and the Gail von der Lippe Merit Scholarship. Pelepko has exhibited in galleries in Paris, France, New York City, and the eastern United States, and is currently a professor at Lebanon Valley College where he teaches "Drawing Studio: The Figure."

The opening reception for Academy of Dreams is Friday, Nov. 3 from 5-7 p.m. in Zimmerman Recital Hall in the Gallery, and is free and open to the public. Prior to the reception, Pelepko will hold an artist talk in the Gallery at 4 p.m.

In conjunction with the exhibition, Isaac Pelepko will paint live in the Lebanon Valley College Clyde A. Lynch Memorial Hall's atrium. The hours for viewing are 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the following dates: Nov. 7, 8, 14, and 15, and Dec. 3, 4, 10, and 11.

The Gallery hours are Wednesday, 5-8 p.m., Thursday and Friday, 1-4:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., and by appointment for groups. Please contact the Gallery at 717-867-6445 or gallery@lvc.edu to arrange a private Gallery talk for your school or organization.
