Accreditors Seek Public Feedback about SUNY Canton's Nursing Program

CANTON, NY (09/04/2015)(readMedia)-- The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) will be holding a public forum seeking feedback about SUNY Canton's two-year Nursing program from 3 to 4 p.m. Sept. 30 in Cook Hall Room 121.

The college's signature career-driven associate degree program is undergoing a site review for continuing accreditation. During this review, the accreditors wish to hear comments and suggestions from the public to help measure the program's effectiveness.

The goal of accreditation is to ensure that the education provided by SUNY Canton meets acceptable levels of quality as a premiere educational institution. Members of the college's faculty, staff and administration use accreditation as another way to measure the success of programs and evaluate the quality of each career-driven major.

The Nursing program was established in 1966 and is noted for providing a highly respected nursing workforce for area hospitals. The site review this year comes following the last accreditation visit in 2008. The program has been continuously accredited since 1968.

The four-year online Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program offered a similar public feedback forum approximately two years ago when it became eligible for accreditation. The program earned five-year accreditation following the ACEN review.

Written comments are welcome and should be submitted by Sept. 22 to Marsal P. Stoll, Chief Executive Officer, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing, 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326, or by email, mstoll@acenursing.org.
