ANNVILLE, PA (09/07/2012)(readMedia)-- Actor, spokesperson, and Iraq war hero J.R. Martinez will offer a message of hope, optimism, and resilience in a September 28 presentation at Lebanon Valley College and sponsored by Cornwall Manor.

General admission tickets are available starting at $25 at www.ticketweb.com; VIP reception and admission tickets including a meet and greet with Martinez are available for $100 by contacting Cornwall Manor at 717-273-2647. Proceeds benefit Cornwall Manor's Future Fund Campaign for the construction of a new health center.

While he was deployed in Iraq in 2003, Martinez's Humvee hit a land mine causing him to suffer burns to more than 40 percent of his body. After 34 months of recovery, Martinez and his dance partner took home ABC's 2011 "Dancing with the Stars" mirror ball trophy, was named as the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade Grand Marshal, and was featured on the cover of People magazine as one of the 25 Most Intriguing People of the Year.

Martinez has appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "60 Minutes," The View, CNN, Fox News, and "Good Morning America." He has chosen to use his experience to help others, which he will do through his presentation "Facing Adversity with Optimism and Resilience." The event begins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 in the College's Arnold Sports Center.
