Adams Commits to Canisius College

BATAVIA, NY (03/25/2016)(readMedia)-- GCC women's soccer All-American Shawna Adams (Bergen) has committed to joining Canisius College for the upcoming fall season. She will join the Golden Griffins after setting the GCC single-season and career record for most goals scored and the most total points during her two seasons at Genesee.

Adams led the country in goals scored in 2015, finishing the year with 30. She also tallied the highest points total with 72 and finished her career with a program-high 109. She ended her run at GCC with 47 goals in two seasons, eight more than the previous record.

A First Team All-American selection in 2015, Adams was also chosen to the All-Region III First and Second team in 2015 and 2014 respectively, and the All-Western New York Athletic Conference (WNYAC) First Team during both of her playing seasons.

Canisius is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I program and a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). The Golden Griffins are coached by Todd Clark and finished the 2015 season with a 6-11-2 overall record and a 4-6 mark in MAAC play.
