ALBANY, NY (01/24/2011)(readMedia)-- Walter T. Burke of Albany (Burke & Casserly, P.C.) is the new chair of the 1,640- member Senior Lawyers Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Burke is a co-founder of Burke & Casserly, P.C., concentrating his practice in elder law; trusts and estates; corporation and business succession planning; and financial, retirement and tax planning. Along with his business partner Timothy E. Casserly, he is the co-author of the consumer planning guide Boomer Basics: Everything You Need to Know About the Issues Facing You, Your Children and Your Parents. The guide is a comprehensive health, financial and personal resource guide for the Baby Boomer generation.
Burke is the past chair of the Elder Law Section and continues to serve on that section's Executive Committee. He also is a member of the Trusts and Estates and Health Law sections.
Within the American Bar Association, Burke is a past chair of the Senior Lawyers Division. He is the chair of the Senior Lawyers Division's Elder Law Committee and currently serves as liaison to the Business Law Committee. Burke also is a founding member and vice-president of Arista Wealth Advisors, Ltd. He has attended the past two White House Conferences on Aging.
A graduate of Manhattan College, Burke received his Master's Degree from Iona College and earned his law degree from Fordham University School of Law.
The 77,000-member New York State Bar Association is the official statewide organization of lawyers in New York and the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. Founded in 1876, State Bar programs and activities have continuously served the public and improved the justice system for 135 years.
