Albany County Sheriff to Collect Guns Turned in During Gifts for Guns Program

Pastor Charlie Muller and District Attorney David Soares Deem This Week a Success

ALBANY, NY (12/23/2011)(readMedia)-- On Friday Dec. 23,at 12:00, Pastor Charlie Muller, District Attorney David Soares and Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple will be meeting at Victory Church at 118 Quail Street in Albany. The three will be meeting to turn over guns collected this week during the Guns for Gifts program.

The program sponsored by the Enough Program, gave out gift cards to Crossgates Mall for handguns and assault rifles that were turned in. Many street handguns were collected, removed from the City streets, and will now be turned over to the Sheriff.

"We are very happy with the results of the program this week." Pastor Charlie. "One of the guns turned in was from a mother who found it in her 14-year-old child's dresser. This is what this program is about, bringing awareness to gun violence and helping to stop violence in our communities".

Following the meeting, from 12:00 to 4:00pm, Pastor Charlie will be handing out Christmas gifts for prisoners incarcerated in the Albany County Jail. For those men and women incarcerated, their children will receive gifts from Pastor Charlie on behalf of those prisoners themselves.
