Albany D.A. to Partner with Victory Church and Albany City Recreation for Safe Night out for City Kids

City Kidz Fun Night out

ALBANY, NY (10/27/2010)(readMedia)-- Halloween night will be a safe night out for city kids who live in Arbor Hill, West Hill and Second Ave. in the south end of the city. Albany District Attorney David Soares and Pastor Charlie are spearheading a night that will ensure safety in at risk areas of the city.

There will be stations on every block from Henry Johnson up 2nd Street to Judson up first to Quail St. J.C. Club. Downtown from South Pearl Street up Second Ave to Sloan Street.

Every Block will have volunteers that will give out light sticks for safety and candy for the children. Volunteers will be identified by orange vests and on each block there will be two volunteers per side of the street. This event is another anti-violence event to help ensure safety in at risk areas. City of Albany recreation will also be involved in the success of this night. On Friday at 3 P.M. David Soares will Join Pastor Charlie in passing out flyers informing city residents of the safe block corridors. Then Sunday Oct. 31st. from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m all streets will be covered. Thousands of pieces of candy are going to be handed out along with close to 1000 light sticks for trafic safety.

For those not wanting their kids to go out on this night Victory Church will host a harvest night out with hip hop- skits-games and lots of prizes. at the 118 Quail St. Location. Every child will leave with a five pound bag of candy. David Soares, Pastor Charlie, John Deantonio, and Mayor Jerry Jennings will be at this press event to encourage city residents to get involved in making this Halloween the best and safest for city kids.
