Albany, N.Y. resident honored with Union College Community Service Internship
SCHENECTADY, NY (05/13/2013)(readMedia)-- Teresa Crasto of Albany, N.Y. was recently awarded one of Union College's Community Service Interships.
Crasto, a junior English and mathematics double major, will be using the funding to work with the Our Lady of the America's Shrine Church. She will be involved in several programs including assisting with the coordination of expanding this summer's Vacation Bible School. As many of the children are from lower socio-economic families and are unable to pay for the activities, she will use some of the funding to provide supplies and food for VBS. She also will assist in the local soup kitchen, food pantry and thrift shop, working alongside volunteers and those in need throughout the neighborhood. She will also provide administrative support for website updates and produce documents in both English and Spanish, as there is only one part-time staff member of the organization.
Crasto was one of four students who received the internships from Union College. Funding for Crasto's internship came from the Roger H. Hull Summer Community Internship Fund.
