ALBANY, NY (03/21/2020) (readMedia)-- Corona Virus has shut down Albany City Schools last week and hundreds of children on subsidized breakfast and lunch programs will not get meals.

A group who has helped in many of the National tragedies like 9-11, Hurricane Sandy, Tornados in Alabama and last year Houston.

The group found out that many of the children were stuck at home and needed help also the Meals on Wheels program was shut down that served the elderly. This group of students and teens have stepped up to go and meet this great need. This first week over 1200 meals served.

The truck they are using was made for this kind of situation. Starting Saturday night Albany will shut down and all next week the truck will serve daycares, shut in's, and the elderly. Many of the students are jumping in to help but only groups of 10 can do the work this has made this a challenge but in one week over 1200 children and many of the elderly were served.

The City Kids Smoothie Truck is the vehicle that is making all the difference. So many kids are calling another van was added to meet the need.
