Alex Cartwright Receives Final Convocation Award at Hampden-Sydney College

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2013)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 25, Hampden-Sydney College senior Alexander Chase Cartwright received the William R. Hendley Award in Economics, presented by Dr. Justin P. Isaacs '95, Associate Professor of Economics. This award is presented to the senior economics major who, in the judgment of the department, has gained the greatest benefit from his major.

A Madison Scholar, Alex served as Chairman of the Student Court, as President of the Union-Philanthropic Society, as Opinion Editor for the student newspaper, The Hampden-Sydney Tiger, and as Vice President for Hampden-Sydney Students for Liberty. He is a member of the Society of '91 (leadership program), the President's Men, and the honor societies Phi Beta Kappa (academics), Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership), Phi Alpha Delta (law), and the Society for Collegiate Journalists. A mathematical economics major, Alex graduated from Westfield School and is the son of Bob & Mindy Cartwright of Howard.
