SPRINGFIELD, MA (11/28/2011)(readMedia)-- Alex Noga of Marshfield was recently named a recipient of the Skookum Award, an honor presented by Western New England University's Alumni Association. The Skookum is awarded to students who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in all their endeavors: academics, co-curricular activities, sports, and community service. "Skookum" is a Native American Chinook Indian word meaning "excellence." Noga was one of 15 outstanding seniors to receive the award during the University's Homecoming Weekend.
An Information Technology major with a minor in Computer Forensics, Noga has been an active member of the Campus Relations Committee of Student Senate for the past four years. For the second consecutive year, he serves as Campus Relations Committee Chairperson on the Executive Board of Student Senate. While at Western New England, Noga has also been a Peer Advisor, Open House Assistant, and volunteered with the Spirit of Springfield's Bright Nights Ball.
