Alexandra Lynn Todak Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at St. Mary's College of Maryland

ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (04/06/2011)(readMedia)-- Alexandra Lynn Todak, a resident of Easton, PA, was inducted into the Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at St. Mary's College of Maryland for academic achievement in the liberal arts and sciences, good character, and breadth of intellectual interests. Founded at the College of William and Mary on December 5, 1776, Phi Beta Kappa is the nation's first – and most prestigious – academic honor society.
On April 5, 2011, the Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa at St. Mary's College of Maryland inducted 24 students to its ranks. It also inducted alumna Laurie M. Ryan, Class of 1986, who is a clinical neuropsychologist and works for the National Institute on Aging. College President Joe Urgo gave the address and was inducted as an honorary member.
St. Mary's was approved for a chapter in 1997, after a rigorous review process that took more than three years to complete. There are 280 Phi Beta Kappa chapters across the United States today, with a membership exceeding 500,000.
St. Mary's College of Maryland, designated the Maryland state honors college in 1992, is ranked one of the best public liberal arts schools in the nation by U.S. News & World Report. More than 2,000 students attend the college, nestled on the St. Mary's River in Southern Maryland.
