'Amazing Chemistry Race' Comes to SUNY Canton

CANTON, NY (04/09/2015)(readMedia)-- Local high school and college students who are interested in chemistry can test their knowledge at an upcoming event at SUNY Canton.

The Amazing Chemistry Race will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 18, in the Richard W. Miller Campus Center's Kingston Theater. The event is designed to stimulate interest in the field of chemistry through fun activities, such as a trivia contest and demonstrations. The day's main event will be a team competition where students will be asked to uncover clues and solve chemistry problems by completing a series of challenges, which will range from performing experiments to completing team-building exercises.

"This event is the perfect opportunity for students to show off their knowledge by competing with peers in a fun and educational way," said organizer and SUNY Canton Chemistry Professor Nicole A. Heldt, Ph.D. "We also want to inspire attendees to pursue a career in the chemical sciences."

The Amazing Chemistry Race is sponsored by the Northern New York Section of the American Chemical Society. Area students who would like to register for the event should contact Heldt at (315) 386-7983 or send an email to heldtn@canton.edu
