American Hebrew Academy Student Miya Farber of Fort Wayne Attends Acting Workshop with Zuzanna Szadkowski
Star of The CW's Gossip Girl Hosts Acting Program in Fort Wayne for Aspiring Performers
GREENSBORO, NC (01/04/2011)(readMedia)-- Karmiya "Miya" Farber, a junior at the American Hebrew Academy, located in Greensboro, NC, recently attended a two-day intensive acting workshop with Zuzanna Szadkowski, one of the stars of the CW's hit television series Gossip Girl. Szadkowski, originally from Fort Wayne, Indiana, held the 'Acting for the Camera Seminar' in conjunction with Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, for area students interested in furthering their acting careers.
Although Farber originally signed up for the acting session because she was "in the school play last year" and liked the show Gossip Girl, she found that learning from Szadkowski put acting for television in a new perspective. "We learned what goes on behind the scenes; how sometimes [actors] don't get the script until the day they shoot." When asked about Farber, Szadkowski wrote, "Miya has such incredible charisma and a very warm energy. It is a pleasure to watch her work. As an actor she is very expressive and has an amazing comedic sensibility, all of which comes across very well on screen. Miya is a very talented and enthusiastic young woman, and I hope she continues to explore her interest in acting. She is a really sweet girl and made the class fun! We acted in several improvised scenes together, and it was a riot."
Afterwards, Farber did not make big plans to move to Los Angeles and start a career in television, but she did learn from the experience. "Sometimes if you read [a script] off for the first time, it will come out fresher, more authentic." Farber plans to continue working and acting in the Academy's Theatre Department, and is now open to pursuing a whole new career path-in Hollywood.
