America's Favorite Pastime Enhanced by Local Youth Baseball Event
The AquaFina Pitch, Hit and Run is planned for Wednesday, May 5th at Jerry May Field
STAUNTON, VA (04/26/2010)(readMedia)-- The Staunton Parks and Recreation Department in conjuction with the Kiwanis Baseball League announce the annual AquaFina Pitch Hit and Run on Wednesday, May 5th at Jerry May Field in Gypsy Hill Park. Players ages 7-14 years of age will be separated into four age categories. Players winning the pitching, hitting or running event in their respective age category at the local event will earn an invite to the Sectional Competition. Win at the sectional and advance to Team Championship events at all 30 Major League ballparks. The National Finals will be held at the MLB All -Star Game.
At the local event, children will have five throwing attempts at a target, three swings to hit for distant and accuracy and one attempt at a timed run from second base to home plate. All three skills tests earn points that will be tallied at the end of the event. The player with the most points in each event and overall wins in that age category. Baseball cards, hotdogs and drinks are provided to each child courtesy of the event hosts. The event is free to all children, both boys and girls are encouraged to participate. You do not have to be a player in the Staunton league to participate.

Registration begins at 5:30 pm and the competition begins at 6pm
