Andrew Craver Receives Final Convocation Award at Hampden-Sydney College

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2013)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 25, Hampden-Sydney College senior John Andrew Craver, Jr. received the Religion Department Award, presented by Dr. Robert G. Hall, Elliott Professor of Religion. The Religion Department Award is given to the senior religion major judged to have reached an exemplary level of excellence in the major and in the overall curriculum.
Andrew serves as a Resident Advisor, as General Manager of the student radio station, WWHS, and as Chair of the Board of Publications. He is a member of the varsity cross country team, the Chess Club, ROTC, and the honor societies Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership), Sigma Tau Delta (English), and the Society for Collegiate Journalists. At Final Convocation in April 2012, he received the William Carrington Finch Religion Award. A religion major, Andrew graduated from Forbush High School and is the son of John & Vicki Craver of East Bend.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
