Andrew Gregg Named to Green and Gold Club

HERKIMER, NY (05/08/2012)(readMedia)-- Herkimer County Community College has named two student-athletes to the Green and Gold Club for April 2012. HCCC's Green and Gold Club honors an outstanding male and female athlete each month.
The Male Athlete of the Month is Andrew Gregg, Men's Track and Field, Homer, NY, a Criminal Justice major. He was a regional winner in the 400 hurdles, 2nd in the 400m, 3rd in the 110 hurdles, ran on two 3rd place relay teams and 4th in the decathlon. Coach Sharon Gleasman-Howell said, "Andrew received the track athlete of the regional meet award, which is very difficult to attain. This was his second year as team captain, and he's one of the hardest working men I have ever coached." This past weekend, Gregg won the national championship in the 400 hurdles, making him the first HCCC male track athlete to be a national champion.
Herkimer County Community College is a unit of the State University of New York, located in Herkimer, NY about 20 miles east of Utica, NY. With an enrollment of approximately 3,600 students, Herkimer offers more than 40 associate degree and certificate programs, on-campus housing, an active co-curricular activities schedule and a national championship athletic program. Herkimer is a Division III member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and has amassed 33 national, 85 regional and 126 conference championships. Herkimer placed second in the 2010-11 National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators (NATYCAA) Cup competition.
