Andrew Hoos Receives First Richard Johnson Endowed Scholarship

LONGVIEW, TX (03/14/2011)(readMedia)-- Andrew Hoos of Hemet, Calif. has been awarded the first Richard Johnson Endowed Scholarship in Chemistry from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Hoos is a student in his second year at LETU and is double majoring in chemistry with a physics concentration and computer science with mathematics concentration. The scholarship is for the 2011-2012 academic year.
"Andrew has proven to be an exceptional student and has demonstrated the faith and character traits we hope to see in our students," said Dr. Steve Ball, chair of the Chemistry and Physics department and a professor of physics. "We feel that Andrew is a very deserving recipient who meets all of the criteria."
The criteria for the scholarship include a minimum grade point average of 3.0, at least a sophomore level standing, enrollment as a fulltime student majoring in chemistry, evidence of a Christian faith, and personal and academic initiative.
LeTourneau University is an interdenominational Christian university located in Longview, Texas, offering academic majors in aeronautical science, business, education, engineering, health care, the humanities and sciences. LeTourneau University also offers graduate and undergraduate degree programs for working adults online and at educational centers in Austin, Bedford, Dallas, Houston and Tyler.
