SPRINGFIELD, MA (06/20/2011)(readMedia)-- Andrew P. McGrath of Belchertown received the Hoyt Warner Computer Science Book Award during Baccalaureate ceremonies at Western New England College. Herman Lee Jackson II, associate professor of Computer Science, presented the award to McGrath. The award is determined by overall grade-point average and an evaluation by the computer science faculty, who consider the student's potential for graduate study in computer science and the student's service to the department.
McGrath graduated summa cum laude as a member of the Honors Program with a Bachelor of Science. He is a member of the Mortar Board and Alpha Lambda Delta honor societies and was recognized by Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. McGrath is an Eagle Scout and has participated in numerous activities on campus, including serving as Vice President of the Outing Club, Secretary of the Global Sustainability Club, and on the Campus Activities Board.
