Andrew Nance Receives Final Convocation Award

HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (05/09/2012)(readMedia)-- At Final Convocation on April 26, Hampden-Sydney College senior Andrew Wesley Nance received the Department of Psychology Award, presented by Dr. Jennifer E. Vitale, Elliott Associate Professor of Psychology. This award is given to the psychology major who exhibits outstanding scholastic achievement in his field. He also received the Kearfott Stone Memorial Award, established in 1939 by the parents of Kearfott Stone '35, presented by Professor Frank C. Archer '73, Associate Professor of Fine Arts, to a student who has rendered outstanding service to the cause of good music in the community.

A Patrick Henry Scholar, Andrew is a member of the Pre-Health Society, the H-SC Big Brothers Mentor Program, the honor societies Phi Beta Kappa (academics) and Psi Chi (psychology), and the professional scientific society Alpha Chi Sigma. He studied during the fall semester of 2010, through H-SC's International Studies program, in St. Andrews in Scotland and was the recipient of the C.T. Crawley Music Award at Final Convocation in April 2011. A psychology major, Andrew graduated from Harrells Christian Academy and is the son of Bill & Cindy Nance of Clinton and Betty Nance-Floyd of Chapel Hill.
