LATHAM, NY (04/01/2014)(readMedia)-- New York Army National Guard Specialist Justin Delfi, a Rochester resident who is currently deployed in Kuwait, was recognized by General Frank Grass, Chief of the National Guard Bureau, on March 26.

Grass, who administers the 460,00- member National Guard, visited members of the New York Army National Guard's 42nd Combat Aviation Brigade during a visit to Kuwait.

The brigade, which includes members of the 642nd Aviation Support Battalion based in Rochester, deployed to Kuwait in December 2013 to provide support to American forces in the Middle East. About 450 New York Army National Guard Soldiers are part of the deployment.

Delfi, a wheeled vehicle mechanic, was presented with a personal coin by Grass in recognition of his excellent work while deployed.

Military leaders traditionally present customized coins to service members to recognize excellence during their visits to units.
