NIAGARA FALLS AIR RESERVE STATION, NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (10/18/2017) (readMedia)-- Soldiers of the New York National Guard's 152nd Engineer Company will begin deploying to Puerto Rico on Thursday, Oct. 18. Members of the press are invited to cover the deployment.

WHO: 125 members of the 152nd Engineer Company

WHAT: Movement of the Soldiers from Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station to Puerto Rico. The Soldiers heavy construction equipment was already shipped to Puerto Rico via ship from New Jersey on Thursday, Oct. 13.

WHEN: 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18

WHERE:Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, Niagara Falls, New York, Lockport Road Gate

Members of the media must be at the Lockport Road Gate no later than 9:45 a.m. in order to be in position to cover the boarding and takeoff of the aircraft which could be between 10 and 11 a.m..

BACKGROUND

Currently the New York Army National Guard has 60 Soldiers and 4 UH-60 helicopters assigned to the 3rd battalion 142nd Aviation conducting relief missions on Puerto Rico. 132 Soldiers of the 442nd Military Police Company are conducting security missions on the island and 20 members of the New York Air National Guard are assisting in air terminal operations and aircraft maintenance missions there.
