Arrowhead High School brings home awards from MSOE competitions

MILWAUKEE, WI (12/04/2012)(readMedia)-- Students from Arrowhead High School in Hartland, Wis., took first place in Milwaukee School of Engineering's annual "OP"portunity Science Conference. Team A was coached by Cheri Kaiser. Another team of students from the high school took third place in MSOE's "OP"portunity Math Conference. The team was coached by Cammy Ley and Angie Koch.

The OP Conference gives high school students the opportunity to demonstrate excellence in academic pursuits. The competitions challenge the skills and abilities of students at all levels.

For the OP Science competition, teams of eight students completed individual tests in biology, chemistry and physics and also participated in a team event. Sixteen teams competed this year and winners completed the tests with the most accuracy. Libertyville High School (Libertyville, Ill.) took second place and Brookfield East High School (Brookfield, Wis.) took third place in the competition.

For the OP Math competition, students worked to solve problems in a number of categories including: algebra, geometry, advanced math and problem solving. There also was a team competition, in which 28 teams participated. The winning teams completed the most problems correctly. Lake Forest Academy (Lake Forest, Ill.) took first place Marquette University High School (Milwaukee) took second place in the competition.
