Artist Sue Johnson from Mendham Awarded Residency at American Academy in Rome
ST. MARY'S CITY, MD (04/13/2011)(readMedia)-- Sue Johnson, formerly of Mendham, New Jersey and now professor of art at St. Mary's College of Maryland, has been awarded a residency at the American Academy in Rome (AAR) in the Visiting Artist and Scholar Program. Her project involves researching pictorial illusions and landscape conventions in Italian fresco painting and in response, she will create new Rome-inspired art works.
Johnson spent the 2010-2011 academic year as visiting scholar at the Centre for Medieval & Renaissance Studies in Oxford, England. She has been a member of the St. Mary's College of Maryland faculty since 1993.
