Aryelle Cormier Awarded Scholarship for International Study
ITHACA, NY (02/06/2012)(readMedia)-- Snelville Resident and Ithaca College student Aryelle Cormier has been awarded a Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship for Spring 2012. The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program is a competitive program that allows U.S. citizen undergraduate students to pursue academic studies abroad to better prepare them for roles in an increasingly global economy and interdependent world.
A television-radio major with minors in journalism and international communications, Cormier will study at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador in Quito. In addition to immersing herself in the Spanish language and Latin American culture, she wants to tell visually compelling stories about the social injustices experienced by the people of the region.
"I will converse with Latin Americans, film their stories and enable cultural understanding by translating and visually exposing social inequalities, " said Cormier.
From day one, Ithaca College prepares students for personal and professional success through hands-on experience with internships, research and study abroad. Its integrative curriculum builds bridges across disciplines and uniquely blends liberal arts and professional study. Located in New York's Finger Lakes region, the College is home to 6,100 undergraduate and 400 graduate students and offers over 100 degree programs in its schools of Business, Communications, Humanities and Sciences, Health Science and Human Performance, and Music.
