ASHLAND, OH (11/15/2012)(readMedia)-- Ashland University's Brittany Cermak, a sophomore majoring in dietetics from Parma, Ohio, had an article printed in the Student Scoop Newsletter published by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). This is the national organization that administers the accreditation of the dietetics program at Ashland University.

Cermak is the daughter of James and Mary Ann Cermak of Parma and she is a 2011 graduate of Normandy High School.

Cermak's article, titled "How to Find Your Dietetic Passion," was one of four articles printed in the newsletter. The others were written by students from the University of Alabama-Birmingham, University of Illinois-Chicago and University of California-Davis.

"Brittany is one of our 'up and coming' dietetics majors who is beginning to demonstrate the necessary skills and level of passion associated with this major and profession," said Dr. David Vanata, associate professor of health sciences and director of the dietetics program. "Brittany took the initiative to contact AND about submitting an article for publication, developed the topic and content, and was selected in a competitive process. We are proud of her and expect great things from Brittany in the years ahead."

Cermak is involved in many organizations on the Ashland University campus, including serving on the speaker committee for the AU Student Dietetic Association, a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, a lifeguard for the AU Rec Center, on the research committee for Peers Promoting Organized Wellness (PPOW), a member of Alpha Lamda Delta, and vice president of the Triathlon Club.
