ALBANY, NY (01/21/2013)(readMedia)-- Howard S. Shafer of Englewood, New Jersey, is the new chair of the 1,705-member Corporate Counsel Section of the New York State Bar Association.
Shafer is the managing partner of the Manhattan-based Shafer Glazer and the president and general counsel of Counsel Holdings, Inc., which operates a national consortium of insurance and corporate liability defense law firms.
A 22-year member of the State Bar, Shafer most recently served as chairperson-elect of the Corporate Counsel Section. He is a member of the Torts, Insurance and Compensation Law and Labor and Employment sections.
Shafer graduated from Rutgers University and earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School. He also serves on the Zoning Board of Adjustment in Englewood.
The 76,000-member New York State Bar Association is the largest voluntary state bar association in the nation. It was founded in 1876.
