Aubertine, Democrats Must End Negative Personal Attacks

Statement from Matthew Walter, Director of Communications

ALBANY, NY (02/13/2008)(readMedia)-- Over the past few days, Darrel Aubertine and Democrat political operatives have been driving personal, partisan politics to a new low.

While Will Barclay has tried to make this a campaign about proposing positive solutions to the critical issues facing the families and businesses in Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties, the Democrats have been slinging mud and issuing personal attacks in an attempt to confuse and distract the voters.

It was reported yesterday that the subject of the Democrats’ inaccurate, negative attack commercial against Will Barclay asked that the commercial be taken off the air, apologized to the Barclay family and indicated that he was merely reading a script from the Democrats.

Despite repeated calls from numerous individuals, the commercial remained on the air.

The people of Oswego, Jefferson and St. Lawrence Counties deserve an open airing of ideas about how to create jobs and hope, cut burdensome taxes and keep people safe—as Will Barclay is doing—rather than the inaccurate personal insults and mudslinging they have been seeing from the Democrats.

This commercial should be taken off the air immediately, and an apology should be issued to Will Barclay and the people of the 48th Senate District.
