Austin Provost Receives Skookum Award at Western New England University

SPRINGFIELD, MA (11/25/2013)(readMedia)-- Austin Provost of Plainville, Conn., was recently named a recipient of the Skookum Award, an honor presented by Western New England University's Alumni Association. The Skookum is awarded to students who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence in all their endeavors: academics, co-curricular activities, sports, and community service. "Skookum" is the Native American Chinook Indian word meaning "excellence." Provost was one of 15 outstanding seniors receiving awards during ceremonies on the Springfield, Mass. campus.
Provost is majoring in Political Science and plans to attend law school at Western New England University upon graduation. He is a member of various honor societies including National Residence Hall Honorary, Alpha Lambda Delta, Omicron Delta Kappa, Pi Sigma Alpha, and he is president of the Mortar Board Senior Honor Society. In addition, Provost serves as a member of the Class of 2014 Council, the Residence Hall Association, the Resident Advisor Steering Committee, and has been treasurer and now president of the Pre-Law Society.
Currently, Provost is interning under Sean Burke, the Associate Director of Residence Life for Operations. Before this role, he worked as a Research Assistant in the Office of Sociology and Criminal Justice on domestic violence research.
