Author Nina McConigley to Share Work, Host Workshop at Lebanon Valley College

Author Nina McConigley will serve as the inaugural writer-in-residence at Lebanon Valley College from Monday, Oct. 10–15, as a part of the campus series “Writing: A Life.”

ANNVILLE, PA (09/27/2016)(readMedia)-- Author Nina McConigley will serve as the inaugural writer-in-residence at Lebanon Valley College from Monday, Oct. 10–15, as a part of the campus series "Writing: A Life." McConigley will hold a public reading and book signing Monday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Zimmerman Recital Hall of the Suzanne H. Arnold Gallery.

During her weeklong visit, McConigley will also host a public workshop Tuesday, Oct. 11 from 3:30–5 p.m. in room 309 of the Administration Building/Humanities Center.

McConigley's most recent story collection, Cowboys and East Indians, won the 2014 PEN Open Book Award and the High Plains Book Award. Among her many notable achievements, she also has been nominated twice for a Pushcart Prize and been published in The New York Times, Orion, and a variety of literary magazines.

O Magazine praised Cowboys and East Indians, saying "the real achievement is the author's mix of hilarity and intelligence. A fresh and insightful read."

Aside from her writing, McConigley serves on the board of the Wyoming Arts Council. She also teaches as an assistant professor at the University of Wyoming for their Honors program, and in the Warren Wilson MFA Program for Writers.

During her weeklong residency on campus, students will have the opportunity to develop their writing skills through interactive classes, workshops, and one-on-one consultations with this professional author.
