Ava, Illinois native enlists in Illinois Army National Guard

SPRINGFIELD, IL (06/09/2017) (readMedia)-- Pvt. Kristin Bunselmeyer of Ava, Illinois, was sworn into the Illinois Army National Guard May 17, at the St. Louis Military Entrance Processing Station.

Bunselmeyer is assigned to Company M, Recruit Sustainment Program in Shiloh, Illinois as part of the Simultaneous Membership Program as she attends ROTC in college. She will later be assigned to the 2118th Asphalt Company in Sparta, Illinois.

Bunselmeyer graduated from Trico High School in Campbell Hill, Illinois, and plans to attend St. Louis University (SLU) in St. Louis, Missouri where she will be an ROTC cadet and a nursing major.

While attending SLU, she will receive the Minuteman Scholarship that will pay her four years of tuition, along with $10,000 a year to pay for room and board.

Bunselmeyer's recent accomplishments at Trico High School include: Illinois State Scholar, Daughters of American Revolution Good Citizen Award and class valedictorian.

The Recruiting and Retention Battalion and Company M congratulated Bunselmeyer and welcomed her into the Illinois Army National Guard.
