BVU Commencement Ceremonies Scheduled For May 27

STORM LAKE, IA (05/15/2017) (readMedia)-- Buena Vista University (BVU) will hold commencement ceremonies on Saturday, May 27, with 751 graduates scheduled to receive their degrees.

They include 202 undergraduates from the Storm Lake campus and 395 undergraduates from BVU's 16 sites and online programs. Another 154 students are scheduled to receive master's degrees.

All events will take place on the BVU campus in Storm Lake. The baccalaureate service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Schaller Memorial Chapel. The procession through the Victory Arch will take place at 2:15 p.m., and commencement ceremonies will begin at 2:30 p.m. in Siebens Fieldhouse.

The commencement speaker will be Anne Motsenbocker, president of JPMorgan Chase's south middle-market banking.

Motsenbocker, who is the granddaughter of the late Drs. Paul and Vivian McCorkle, BVU's Wythe Award founders and dedicated trustees, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1984 with a degree in business administration before completing graduate courses at Smith College in 1998.

She has enjoyed a rich career at JPMorgan Chase, and has worked for the institution and its predecessors for over 30 years. Her wealth of experience includes corporate banking, commercial banking, trust and wealth management. Motsenbocker's current role involves overseeing markets in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska, where she works with middle-market businesses across industries.

Community service and other civic commitments have also played a key role in her accomplishments. In 2016, Motsenbocker was named as United Way of Metropolitan Dallas' board chair after serving on the nonprofit's Board of Directors since 2008 and serving as vice chair in 2015-16. She is also a member of the Tocqueville Giving Society and was a founding member of Women of Tocqueville, where she continues to be actively involved. In addition, Motsenbocker is a member of the International Women's Forum, the Executive Women's Round table and the Dallas Assembly, and serves on various other Boards of Directors including the Dallas Regional Chamber, which she chaired in 2013, and Children's Health Board. She has also completed leadership development programs under the Dallas Regional Chamber and the Richardson (Texas) Chamber of Commerce.

Motsenbocker has received several awards for her distinguished work, including the Women of Excellence Award in 2005 presented by Women's Enterprise Texas. In 2008, Motsenbocker was the recipient of the Dallas Business Journal's Most Influential Women in Business Award, and in 2011 she was awarded the Athena Leadership Award by the Dallas Regional Chamber.

Motsenbocker lives in Dallas with her husband, Alan. The couple has two adult sons, Brian and David.
