BVU Students Organize Annual Fiesta Latina Event

STORM LAKE, IA (04/11/2018) (readMedia)-- The annual celebration of Latino heritage, "Fiesta Latina," will be held on April 14 from 1 to 6 p.m. at the Lamberti Recreation Center on the Buena Vista University (BVU) campus. The event – which is free and open to the public – is being coordinated by RAICES, a student organization at BVU that is designed to increase the visibility and heighten the awareness of students of Latin descent.

"The event is important because it helps forge relationships, build stronger bonds, and assists the Storm Lake community," said Ebony N. King, director of multicultural engagement at BVU.

Fiesta Latina is an annual community-wide fundraiser that is held each spring to bring awareness to the Latino culture and to help raise funds for a local non-profit organization. This year, all funds will go to "Ready, Set, Grow!" Learning Center in Alta. The event will feature Latino food, mariachi performances, inflatables, a talent show, activities for children, and more.
