Barbara Chandler-Wright honored as Marietta College's 2013 Distinguished Alumna

MARIETTA, OH (10/21/2013)(readMedia)-- Marietta College and the Alumni Association honored 1977 graduate Barbara Chandler-Wright as the 2013 Distinguished Alumna during the Homecoming festivities this October.
Chandler-Wright was one of a dozen special Pioneers recognized during the Marietta on the Mall celebration on Oct. 12.
A longtime educator with a background in social work and counseling, she is currently working with Fayette County Children and Youth Services.
Holding a degree in psychology from Marietta, two master's degrees from West Virginia University and California University of Pennsylvania, and a doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh, she is the former executive director of East End United Community Center, which provides educational support for children and teens in Uniontown, Pa.
Located in Marietta, Ohio, at the confluence of the Muskingum and Ohio rivers, Marietta College is a four-year liberal arts college. Tracing its roots to the Muskingum Academy begun in 1797, the College was officially chartered in 1835. Today Marietta College serves a body of 1,430 full-time students. The College offers 44 majors and has been listed among Barron's Best Buys in College Education and Peterson's Competitive Colleges, and has been recognized as one of the top regional comprehensive colleges by U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review, as well as one of the nation's best by Forbes.com.
