SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY (04/05/2014)(readMedia)-- Baseball in the Civil War will be the subject of a free lecture at the New York State Military Museum on Saturday, April 12.

Dave Hubbard, the site manager at Grant College State Historic Site at Mount McGregor, will trace the role baseball played in the lives of Civil War Soldiers on both sides of the conflict. His talk will also outline how the Civil War changed the sport and contributed to its growing popularity as America's national game.

Hubbard's presentation includes historic images and excerpts from Soldiers letters and diaries.
