Beau Bryan Receives Award at Hampden-Sydney College Opening Convocation
HAMPDEN-SYDNEY, VA (09/06/2012)(readMedia)-- At Opening Convocation on Tuesday, September 4, Beau Hiers Bryan, a junior at Hampden-Sydney College, was awarded the President's Award for Academic Excellence in Humanities. Beau, studying in France this year through Hampden-Sydney's Global Education Program, was unable to attend the ceremony.
Beau is a member of the French Club, the Jongleurs (theatre arts), and the Unity Alliance at Hampden-Sydney. He also has served as President of the Greenbrier Valley Young Democrats. A French major, Beau is a graduate of Greenbrier East High School in Lewisburg, WV, and is the son of Dr. & Mrs. Glenn E. Bryan of Melbourne.
A private college for men, Hampden-Sydney is ranked in the top tier of liberal arts colleges by U.S. News & World Report. The College is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code which stresses individual and collective responsibility, and a focus on the education of young men.
