Becker Native Rachel Gilbert Honored by MIAC as Softball Player-of-the-Week

SAINT PAUL, MN (04/10/2012)(readMedia)-- Bethel University junior Rachel Gilbert of Becker, Minn., has been selected as the first MIAC Softball Player-of-the-Week of the 2012 season. She has batted over .450 with nearly a run and an RBI per game. Gilbert is the left fielder and has had terrific on-base and slugging percentages.

Starting and appearing in 15 of her team's first 16 games, Gilbert has had a .458 batting average, 15 RBI and 14 runs scored. She also has a .536 on-base percentage and .625 slugging percentage with six of her 22 hits going for extra bases (one home run and five doubles). She has 30 total bases and eight walks as well while leading Bethel to nonconference wins over Concordia-Wis., Wesleyan, Washington & Jefferson, Union, UW-Stevens Point and Manchester.
