Bedford, MA Native Doug Stoner Takes Second Place at Film Festival

NEWTON, MA (03/08/2010)(readMedia)-- Doug Stoner, a native of Bedford, MA and graduate of Bedford High School, won second place at the Third Annual Mount Ida College Film Festival. The festival was held March 4-6 at Mount Ida College in Newton, MA.

Stoner, a senior business management major at Mount Ida College, was awarded $300. He also receives free entry into the Garden State Film Festival (GSFF), which takes place March 25-28 in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

The eight-minute film, titled "A Road Not Taken," is based on the poem by Robert Frost. The film was created as part of a "Literature and Film" class project in which students were instructed to adapt a piece of literature to film.

The Mount Ida College Film Festival, known as the Best of the Fest, features a collection of award-winning independent films from the Garden State Film Festival (GSFF) as well as a number of videos produced by students from the College. Students compete for over $800 in cash prizes and the opportunity to debut their film at the GSFF.
