Benjamin Ross-Johnsrud Honored at Western New England University

SPRINGFIELD, MA (06/28/2013)(readMedia)-- Benjamin P. Ross-Johnsrud of Ithaca, N.Y., received the College of Engineering's Henry L. Sundberg Jr. Award during Baccalaureate ceremonies at Western New England University. The award honors the student chosen by the faculty to represent the College of Engineering at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Region I student competition.
Ross-Johnsrud graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is a member of the Sigma Beta Tau honor society, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Acoustical Society of America. While at Western New England University, he played on the rugby club and participated in community service work in his hometown as a carpenter and a third grade teacher. Ross-Johnsrud is the co-author of a paper that was presented at the International Congress on Acoustics in Canada and his senior design project received the Best Innovative and Creative Design in their Engineering Senior Project Award. He also participated in the Old Guard Oral Presentation Competition of the regional American Society of Mechanical Engineers Student Professional Development Conference and received the award for having the presentation with the highest technical content. Currently, Ross-Johnsrud works as a Mechanical Engineer at FloDesign Sonics.
The Sundberg award is named for Professor Emeritus Henry Sundberg Jr., who retired in 1991 after 32 years in the mechanical engineering department.
