Best Hog Call Wins the Prize

DES MOINES, IA (08/25/2021) (readMedia)-- Youth ages 5 to 16 showed off their best hog call to impress the judges on August 20 at the 2021 Iowa State Fair.

Blake Helmke, 9, of Dumont, snatched first place. Kamie Helmke, 11, of Dumont, took the second place spot. Ryan Barton, 5, of West Des Moines, achieved the third place spot.

The contest was part of "Rural Americana Olde Tyme Competitions" in Farm Bureau Pioneer Hall. A first prize of $5 and ribbons were awarded to each class.
