Beth Lappin of Westminister Completes Honors Program

SCRANTON, PA (07/02/2010)(readMedia)-- Beth Lappin of Westminster, Md., was among 16 members of the Class of 2010 to graduate from The University of Scranton's Honors Program.
The Jesuit university's Honors Program enforces the tradition of excellence and personal development by challenging exceptional students with independent work and intense engagement with facility and their peers. This prestigious program is designed to increase the student's intellectual skills, self-reliance and personal accountability. The program requires each student to complete a year-long comprehensive research, creative or independent project.
For her research project, Lappin studied "A Comparative Analysis of Sensory Integration and Applied Behavior Analysis for the Treatment of Children with Autism." She reviewed various approaches used in the treatment of children with autism to find similarities and differences in order to determine if for a more integrated approach could be developed. Her research project was conducted with faculty mentor Carol Reinson, Ph. D., assistant professor of occupational therapy.
Lappin graduated from Scranton with a bachelor of science, summa cum laude, in health sciences with a track in occupational therapy.
